DION & THE BELMONTS - The Wanderer

The Belmonts foi formado em 1958 por Dion DiMucci, Fred Milano, Angelo D'Aleo e Carlo Mastangelo - todos nascidos no Bronx. Eram vistos como um quarteto de doo-wop ítalo-americano tentando imitar os melhores grupos negros. Mas o sucesso de "Teenager in love" e "Where or When" trouxe a eles o devido respeito da mídia. Com isto, Dion começou a ter problemas com drogas e foi "convidado" a deixar o grupo. Em carreira solo e levando o nome do grupo, emplacou sucessos como "Runaround sue" e "The Wanderer". Voltou em 1968 com "Abraham, Martin and John", regravada posteriormente por Marvin Gaye.

Buddy Holly & The Crickets - The First Three Original Album (1957)

1957 LP The "Chirping" Crickets

Um dos precursores do Rock N Roll, a música de Buddy Holly era sofisticada para sua época, incluindo o uso de novos instrumentos. Buddy Holly era um bom guitarrista ritmico, notável em músicas como "It's Too Late" e "Not Fade Away". Depois de uma performace no dia 2 de Fevereiro no Surf Ballroom em Clear Lake, Iowa, o pequeno avião Beechcraft Bonanza, no qual viajava com mais 3 passageiros, entrou em uma tempestade de neve e caiu em um milharal, algumas milhas depois, às 1:05 da manhã. O acidente matou Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson e o piloto Roger Peterson, deixando a mulher de Holly, que estava grávida na época, viúva. Esse evento inspirou o cantor Don McLean a criar uma popular música de 1971, chamada "American Pie", e imortalizou o dia 3 de Fevereiro como o dia que o rock'n'roll morreu.
